Smallworlds would like to formally send a congratulations to the Green Belt Movement's, Wangari Maathai, for receiving the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize!!

Wangari, Founder of the Green Belt Movement, a Kenya based grassroots non-governmental organization and member of the Smallworlds Network, is the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. It is also the first time the prize has recognized the work to preserve the environment as an effort of peace.

Welcome to Smallworlds

The Smallworlds Network is a region-based directory of local and national conservation groups from around the globe so they know they're not alone.

The online forum is about being part of a family. It is a vehicle to help build a community of local conservation groups so they may begin a dialogue. The forum is a place to exchange information and opinion, network and create partnerships with the locals that are the real link to the land.

Smallworlds in the Schools is an environmental education program that teaches youth of all ages about wildspaces around the world underthreat and the organizations and people behind them, working towards their protection.

"a fantastic initiative that fills an important niche"
