About Smallworlds

Since its conceptualization back in 2002, Smallworlds has evolved from a small idea into a tangible and existing organization. Each year Smallworlds grows closer and closer to achieving its mission.

mission:

To establish a global community between wilderness conservation groups and youth. Hand in hand with organizations involved locally in preserving their wild spaces, Smallworlds works to convey the understanding and passion of conservation to the generation of the future by linking, learning and educating.

Smallworlds is made up of three programs that together, strive to reach its mission.

The Smallworlds Network unites the conservation community under one roof. It is a region-based directory where each group member's contact is listed and their mission stated.

Branching off from the Smallworlds Network is Smallworlds in the Schools, an environmental education program that uses groups from the Smallworlds Network as life examples to teach kids about the importance of conservation.

The Smallworlds Online Community Forum uses the web to connect the conservation organizations together, and the youth to the organizations.

Working on Smallworlds has been, and continues to be incrediby rewarding. I can not think of anything more inspiring than connecting with people around the globe who share such an incredible passion for their homelands and passing that passion onto the generation of the future. Conservation has always been my first love... and it is this love which translates directly into this inititive.

I hope you enjoy.

Smallworlds Founder,
Amanda Gomm

“Smallworlds is a terrific idea. We hope you are able to provide those critical connections between conservation organizations across the globe. The strategies and activities used by grassroots organizations are similar--and we could all stand to learn from others' experiences.”

Julie K. Jessen
Associate Program Officer, Alaska Conservation Foundation

Smallworlds does not have any political or religious affiliation. Its Network and Expedition members work independently and their ideas do not necessarily reflect those of the Smallworlds initiative.
